Restaurant Description:
More than just a tapas restaurant with excellent contemporary Spanish cuisine, Suba is kind of a unique latin oasis on the lower east side. Suba may be famous for it’s subterranean dining rooms surrounded by a pool of burbling water, better know as the “Grotto”; but it is also becoming famous for being one of the best places in New York to go and dance latin music all night.
Suba’s dance floor may not be the biggest one on the city, but for sure it has one of the most fun latino crowd. If you don’t want to stay in line outside for an hour, we suggest you show up there no later than 11:30pm and have your first mojito of the night on the Tapas bar on the first floor until the skyline room on the basement gets ready to party.
Suba embraces its Spanish heritage with live Flamenco performances every Sunday. In a minimalist and modern space, exceptional guitarists, singers and dancers express the fire and passion of Flamenco to the delight of Suba’s patrons
“There’s a clear dedication to quality at Suba- the best of the food here is distinctive & exciting.” NY Times review, Aug. 8, 2007
