Los Premios MTV Give the U.S. Version A Run For Its Money
The producers of this year’s MTV Video Music Awards must be either getting fired or be mad as hell because the Los Premios MTV 2008 was by far the show that everyone is talking about.
Whether it was Juanes’ taking home four awards that night, or Katie Perry making a big fat, but fun, mess with her quinceñera-inspired performance of her breakout single: I Kissed A Girl, the night was full of memorable moments.
The awards, taped for the first time ever in Guadalajara, also had a slew of amazing performances that included the Argentine rock band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, via satellite from Buenos Aires, whom received a lifetime achievement award.
Aside from Juanes’ performance, other live acts included Belanova, Metallica Julieta Venegas, and German pop band Tokio Hotel.
Though it was Perry’s performance that gave the night’s biggest buzz that included a large cake, in which she jumped into at the end of her song resulting in her not able to get up because of all the slippery frosting.
Juanes, the big winner of the night, took home best solo artist, artist of the year, best rock artist and best central region artist.
